Bristol-Myers Squibb Company manufactures brand name Buspar. There are generic Buspar (buspirone) manufacturers.
Buspar is a serotonin system medication used primarily to treat generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Some doctors also prescribe Buspar for the aches, pains, fatigue, and cramps associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
Buspar does not begin to work immediately. Usually, it takes a couple of weeks. Individual results very with time.
Buspar is said to be non-addictive and it is not a controlled substance by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Usually it comes in dividable 5mg, 10mg, 15mg , and 30mg tablets.
A realistic initial daily dose is 15mg per day (7.5mg two times per day) or 15mg (5mg three times per day). This dose can be increased 5mg every 2 to 3 days, up to a maximum of 60mg per day. Usually 20mg to 30mg per day is effective.
