One of the most noticable side effects that I experienced was with orgasm. The erection, act and desire were not affected, but the ability to achieve argasm was indeed. While my wife did not complain, I did. Overall, I am grateful for Celexa and how it made me feel.

This is day 1 of the medication (10mg) After about an hour I experienced dry mouth and diarrhea and nausea. Food also tasted different, so I don't feel like trying to eat yet (3 hours later) The nausea and diarrhea is fading fast though. We'll see what happens, pretty strange all-around "feelin" though.

I was taking the generic citalopram (Celexa) for a year. when I had my prescription refilled, the pill is a different shape. I called the pharmacy and they said it is citalopram, made by a different manufacturer. The internet says there is only one manufacturer and they only show the oval pill I used to take. Could the pharmacy be wrong?

I have been taking Celexa for 7 days now. I still feel very dizzy and disconnected, but I'm hoping that the fog lifts and I will acclimate to the drug. Right now I've taken a few days off of work to try and adjust.

before starting this medication I had an extremely bad time I had developed a very severe cancer phobia that was taking over my entire life depression panic attacks the whole nightmare was an everyday occurence I started these tablets five weeks ago and feel like a different person I used to associate depression with weakness I now know the truth and thank God I went to see my doctor I suffered so long . The side effects were minimal nausea for a little while and headache but it didnt last long and the benefit to my life far outweighs the little bit of discomfort while I got used to them.

TITLE: Weird epsiodes taking Citalopram (Celexor)
TYPE: Personal Experience

EMAIL:
Have been taking Citalopram (Celexor in US) for three months: 1 month at 10mg, then last two months at 20mg. For the last month I've had very strange side effects which I didn't experience at the beginning: weekly episodes of metallic taste in mouth followed by surge of icy cold chemical flooding my body. Accompanied by uncontrollable shaking and agitation, tingling limbs and face, lack of feeling in limbs, light headedness, rigidity in neck. I've had a headache all year, too. Have now had 8 episodes of this in last month - 4 in the last three days. Have gone back to 10mg (on GPs advice) a week ago in an attempt to reduce these symptoms (not working yet). Doctors keep accusing me of having panic attacks - THEY ARE NOT! (I know what they feel like.) One I saw yesterday said it was cause by hyperventilating but I know, and my husband backs this up, that I am NOT hyperventilating during these episodes. Has anyone else experienced this while still taking the medication? Only similar themes I can find are from people withdrawing, which I have only just this week started to do. Please help as the doctors don't seem to understand what I'm trying to tell them! My gut feeling is that my brain is being flooded with too many chemicals and it's trying to flush them out - I am extremely sensitive to anything in my body. Could this be the case?

Hi, I was on citalopram (celexa) for almost 6 month and i started tapering off in the last two weeks. i stopped the medication on April 4, 06. Since then i have been experiencing extreme dizziness, nausea, muscle tention, pain, difficult breathing....etc and to add to the list today i woke up with flue symptoms. I contacted an urgent care doctor and also my physician in the last few days and their diagnosis were that I have acondition called "positional Vertigo". I was not convinced so I did my research online and found that these symptoms indicate Seratonin toxicity caused by medication withdarwal which much more seriuous than what i thought. I am concerned about having to deal with life changing symptoms for a long time. Could you please share any information that you might have about this subject. Lena

I am going into my 5th week on Celexa. Started 30mg last Thursday. The very next day the tiredness went away, I regained my energy and some optimism and actually accomplished some things I couldn't motivate myself to do. I still worry alot about everything but that's another matter. My sex drive isn't returning but I don't miss it!

i had the same feeling you did but mine is not as much as yours. when i asked my doctor he said what is happening is that your body is giving you a surge of serition and that it might be to much for you so we reduced me from 20 to 10 and that has helped so maybe you dont need to be on any medicine or you should look at taking a differnt brand of antidepressents he told me if it kept doing it that he would put me on different medicane.i know that feeling and it is awful especially the cold feeling and i start to sweat and have rapid heart rate but once i calm mysekf down and drink somewater it goes away.
