Factual Information Obtained and Confirmed:
Roche Labs manufactures brand name Klonopin. There are several generic Klonopin (clonazepam) manufacturers.
Klonopin is a long duration benzodiazepine (minor tranquilizer) medication used primarily to treat seizures and panic attacks, but is also sometimes prescribed for anxiety disorders or as a supplimental treatment for schizophrenia.
Although Klonopin starts working within the first hour after ingestion, according to the manufacturer, it takes about 1 to 4 hours for peak concentration in the blood to be reached. And it takes about 30 to 40 hours for the system to break down 50% (half-life) of the active ingredient (clonazepam)
Klonopin is initially more potent than Valium (diazepam) but may last a shorter amount of time.
Many claim the shorter duration and greater potency cause the individual to take more pills more often, which can increase the rate of dependence.
Klonpoin can cause dependency and/or addition.
Klonopin is a regulated Class IV controlled substance by the United States Food and Drug Administration
Usually it comes in .5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg tablets
A realistic initial dose for panic disorder is 0.25 mg (½ of a 0.5 mg tablet) two times per day.
This dose is typically increased to 0.5 mg twice per day or 1 mg once per day. Studies indicate doses higher than 1 mg per day usually do not increase the therapeutic advantage for panic disorder, but do increase the side effects. However, the manufacturer says up to 4 mg per day may be used (in some cases).
When discontinuning this medication, the dose should be reduced by 0.125 mg (¼ of a 0.5 mg tablet) every three days until the drug is entirely withdrawn.

Klonopin made me continuously irritable-valium is a better benzodiazepine for anxiety, in my opinion.
I have been on Klonopin for several months for anxiety. Typically I take between 2 - 4 mg. per day. I'm dependent on it now. I'd like to get off the Klonopin entirely, but I'm so nervous throughout the day (even when I take it, but especially when I don't). I'd rather not take any drugs at all. Might exercise be a substitute for Klonopin? Thank you.
i have been on clonazepam for about four years and i have found thar certain generic brands have little or no effect. how do i find out which laboraties to avoid when filling my prescriptions. some internet sites say some generic klonopin brands are little more than sugar pills. i cannot afford non generic klonopin
I also noticed that some generic brands differ in effectiveness and side effects. So in order to figure out which is the best for myself I did the following. First, you must ask the pharmacist who the manufacturer of your pills are. Then save at least one pill in your bottle when your finished and don’t throw it out. The next time you get new pills ask the doctor for generic pills other than the one you tried. Again, save at least one pill and repeat the steps. Then you can make very good comparisons and eventually figure out which works best for you. The reason for saving one pill is so you can see the identifying code or marks on the pill and know that you have received the right one in case the pharmacist makes a mistake. I have done this and have no regrets now.
how do i get off, what is a good replacement
I want to know how common the side effect of short term memory loss is associated with taking Klonopin. I take 2.5 mg. at night as a sleep aide.
I am currently on 10mg. Lexapro for depression/anxiety and .5mg. Klonopin for panic attacks. My panic attacks have ceased and I am no longer anxious or depressed, but I have been having an extremely difficult time trying to study, read, or do anything that requires concentration. My GP has decided to discontinue my Klonopin and I am curious if anyone else has had difficulty waking up in the morning, falling asleep, and trouble focusing while on Klonopin.
I am on 20 mg Lexapro and 1.5mg clonazepam three times a day is this to much. Is there another drug that would work better and not have to take so often. I am not have any side effects from it but sleepy, but I have not slept in weeks before starting the med so this is a good thing.
I was on xanax .05 4-6 x a day ,Dr switched me to klonopin(Generic) .05 2 x day ,I was on xanax about a yr for anxiety ,panic ,etc. The Dr said I could just switch without cutting down xanax,I hear so many that have to lower the dose 1st,i'm shaky ,more anxious ,dizzy ,& feel wierd in general,is this normal & how long will it last? I fear changing meds anyway.
I have suffered from anxiety and every now and then I have panic attacks, I don't have panic attacks that often but when I do they can be very bad, not to mention embarrasing, I also went through treatment for hep c that had quite terrible side effects, I was takin off treatment because the treatment made me so anemic that it almost killed me (5 blood tranfusions) They gave me prednisone and that made me full diabetic. I am fine now and once off the prednisone I am no longer diabetic. They have me on klonopin .05 twice a day, this has really helped me with my anxiety problem and my question is it ok to take this for the rest of my life or am I going to have to stop taking at some point in time, I have been on it for about 8 months and it really helps keep me calm. I have stage 4 liver fibrosis and the klonopin helps with the stress of knowing I have a disease that will probably kill me someday, I have seen 2 of my friends pass away from hep c, although they were alcoholics and drinking alcohol with hep c is very bad for your liver, I quit the moment I found out i had it.
I love Klonapin. Nothing else so far has been as effectife in ruducing RSL and putting me into a sound sleep. Had escalated dosage from 1 mg. to 2 mg. and found myself creeping up toward 3 mg. The increased dosages came at a time I was in severe pain form pinched nerves and psoratic arthritis flare-up. Those problems are better now, but I'm having a dreadful time doing wihtout Klonapin. My doctors have tried Gabapentin, Valiam, Lunesta and Ambien (not all at the same time!) NOTHING seems as effective as Klonapin and at this point I would rather risk addiction than spend another sleepless night before having to teach a room ful of elementary students the next day. Woe is me.
I'm on klonopin in thr morning and at night 2 mgs,and I take xanax 4 times a day 1 mgs. I seem to be functioning and my panic attacks aren't immobolizing me.
I take Klonopin for Rem Behavior Disorder. Just raise to 3 1mg tablets anight, Would like to chat with others with this problem.
I have been taking .25mg xanax every 4 hours a day and 2mg klonopin twice a day. My wife and I have a 29 week old in NICU and she was in antepartum for 12 days. I still feel very jittery and have major mood swings. But like to sleep alot. Is this normal behavior? I don't want to get disassociated w/ my new family but when I don't take the meds I am a complete nervous wreck. Any thoughts??
Would be interested in anyone taking klonopin who has experienced changes in the way they may do thing that are out of character; i.e. like more aggressive or spend more money then they would usually or anything else not normal that they would have done before the medication was taken.
i have been on (klonopin for over 10 years) i have tried other medications for anxiety but none of which have worked. i take 2.0mg a day, i am so dependent on to get by day to day. is there any hope?
My 23-year-old daughter has been taking clonazepam for four years. She has had depression problems for several years and different doctors tried different medicines with little or no success. She finally was prescribed clonazepam as an affordable medicine to help with extreme anxiety. The problem is our family doctor is not in favor of this medicine on a long-term basis. The last time she asked for a refill of the clonazepam he said it would be the last time. What is an efficient natural product she could benefit from without going to a specialist or that is expensive? Please help. Thank you. Worried mother.
I have been on Klonopin for 20 years. The dosage went up over the years from 1 mg to 4 mg. I started having memory problems, balance problems, drowsiness, and internal trembling. I tapered my dose over the period of 1.5 years to .25mg, but the panic attacks returned with a lot of anxiety. I also am on Lexapro and Buspar. I have vivid dreams and if I wake up in the morning from a dream, I cannot get up. It's like my head is in a vice. I'm trembling, feel faint and nauseous, have hot and cold flahses, and cannot tolerate light. This happens 1-2 days/week. I can't stand it and it makes me more panicky. I've gone back up to .5 mg/day, which has helped with the daily panic. I'm told this could hurt my memory, but the withdrawl symptoms are too bad to tolerate. If you don't have to stay on klonopin or lexapro, get off of it. If you've had this inability to wake from dreams, please reply.
how long does clonzepam stay in your system?
